Standards Evidence for Leigh Technology.
Image One & Two
To the left are two examples of work produced in a Year 8 lesson (Lesson Two -http://www.wathistory.com/leigh-re.htm) Students were asked to produce t-shirts based on the information on the handouts in photo 3 & 4. These are differentiated based on reading age and outcomes.
Image 3 contains more written information than image 4. Image 4 also gives more prompts for any answers requested.
However the intended outcome of both images is that the students are producing and using the information and creating their own t-shirt. As Blooms taxonomy states, this form of accumulation is more effective. The students were then asked to teach each other just from there designs. Each group had to peer assess each others work based on a pre agreed criteria that you can see in the lesson on slide 4.
Students were given time to fill in there sheets and give each other a level. This became the exit pass for the lesson. Students were not allowed to leave without a completed handout.
Students were tasked with using the information in the books and the information sheet in completing a facebook profile and conversation between Vesalius and the other renaissance medicine characters. Students were asked to gather the information by themselves, promoting independent learning. The method for capturing the information required them to use their imaginations. The end result of this work (pairs) can be found in image 1.
For homework the students had a choice of tasks to complete depending on their learning preferences. Students could choose to complete mindmaps, posters or an essay.
These were handed in the next lesson. Examples of these can be found in images 3-4
Once again you will have a choice in your homework.
I would like you to complete the same set of choices but for Vesalius and Harvey.
1. Create an A4 poster demonstrating the work of Vesalius and Harvey.
2. Make a crossword of the key terms and phrases that you have used in the last lessons.
3. Create a comic strip demonstrating the techniques and methods used by Vesalius and Harvey (http://bitstrips.com/create/comic)
4. Create a mind map of the medical advancements made by Vesalius and Harvey
5. Answer the following questions on Vesalius and Harvey (1 side of A4 roughly)
Who made the greatest advancement to medical knowledge during the renaissance period?
The lesson plan for this can be found on Lesson 04 -
